Correct Yellow Jacket tabs
« on: May 02, 2013, 03:27:39 pm »
Hello FOV's
Just wondering if anyone knows where to find the most accurate lead tab for Yellow Jacket. Ultimate Tabs and 911 Tabs have it, however
when I watch some of the you tube videos of various artist, their finger positions don't seem to match what is shown on the tabs.
Specifically the 4rth part of the song. Also, is their a computer program to watch and slow down you tube videos for windows 7 and Vista?

Thanks

I haven't found any tab that's 100% accurate especially with respect to what position something is being played on the neck.  Much of the melody line is played in the 1st position and most of the rest of the song is played at the 5th position.

There are a number of vids of Nokie playin Yelo Jaket on U toob.  I suggest you study those and try to play along.  I'm not aware of any free software that allows you to slow down a video.

Heer's a good closeup vid:

Thanks Walt,

Yes, that is a very good video of Yellow Jacket. I have that on my favorites, also a few more. Nokie Fuji is very!! good. His version is very similar to Nokie Edwards. I like the way they go up an octive on the melody. I can do it, but I really have to work at it. Some of the videos
I have, most players stay in the first octive. Some players use the high E and B, on the 7th and 5th frets for the start of the bridge. I've seen others use the G and D strings up a few frets. And they all have their own way of playing and improvising on the bridge also. I'll keep studying the videos. I'll at least get the 4rth part close. I practiced yesterday and was almost there

Not tabs for a closeup, but one of the best renditions of this tune I've heard. These guys just tear it up! I wish they showed some enthusiasm to go with it!

Hey....they're just imitating the amount of enthusiasm the Ventures displayed on stage during the mid-60's time frame.
