I prefer the Fender Jazz bass vs the precision bass
« on: December 31, 2011, 12:25:33 pm »
I find it a lot easier to play the Fender Jazz bass. Slimmer neck and better body profile, along with the 2 pickups give a great variation of sounds. The original electric bass, the Precision is indeed a ground breaking instrument that brought the electric bass into recording and live gigs. I find the Precision bass has a flatter and broader neck and have difficulty getting around on the neck vs the Jazz bass.

GWG's are currently using a Fender Jazz bass made in China. We purchased it from Guitar Center about 6 years ago and it has not imploded or exploded. It is a fine instrument for the low price we paid for it. It has over 1,200 hours of hard driving playing on it and we are only on the 3rd set of strings.

Jes.....it outlived the band member who coined the term "imploding base". ;D

Yes, Jazz Basses are very nice.  My Japanese friend has a metallic green one, a Japanese model, that is beautifully made.

I have an MIJ feesta red Jazz Bass also, but I don't gig w/it.  I want to keep it in nice condition.
