'016 FEST SONG SUGGESTIONS?
« on: February 18, 2016, 10:36:30 am »
Decided to reach out to the forum members for some
SONG SUGGESTIONS for our 'gathered' jammers
come SATURDAY OCTOBER 1ST, 2016!

In the past several years, what's made the annual fest
'better than ever' each go-round is the fact these 'stalwart'
VENTURES FANS have themselves become 'cover bands,' in
many instances lately covering songs 'our heroes' never did
in their long career.   One year we successfully 'pulled off' a
VENTURES PLAY THE BEACH BOYS twelve song set.

Some of the suggestions from our jammers this year include:

REBEL WALK & CANNONBALL by Duane Eddy
F.B.I. by The Shadows
FREIGHT TRAIN by Rusty Draper
THAT'LL BE THE DAY by Buddy Holly
THIS DIAMOND RING by Gary Lewis & the Playboys
BYE BYE LOVE by The Everly Brothers

just to name a few!

I plan to submit the 'official' 2016 list to all jammers by mid-March
so get your thoughts in ASAP!

Thank you- fest host Tom B.

Here's another suggestion.
Some 1 orchestrate a tribute to the Ventures....The Mosrite Years..the Live in the USA LP that SHOULD have been.

Pick any toons from any of their LPs until they stopped using Mosrites in 1968.
Oh, I dunno, like:

Fever
Lies
Wild Trip
Fuzzy & Wild
Nite Train
Needles & Pins
Blu Tango
Meat the Culligan Man
Orange Fire
Gringo
Bluebird
Summertime
Scratch
Nite Drive
Party in Laguna
   Barefoot Venture

just to name a few

Whose gonna take the challenge?

I like the idea a lot Walt.   Let's see if some of those returning
(Ken Arnold, Vic Hines, Chris Monk, Noel Squitieri, Michael
Waters) jammers can take the 'bull by the horns' & follow thru!

The lead guitar would require a Mosrite or Mosrite-like guitar, since it's unique sounding.
