Well, that was a lot of fun, wasn't it? So wonderful to see everyone who came again, meet some new friends and miss folks from last year who couldn't come this time. All my friends who came along to perform with me had a great time, and they've all decided to come next year and, since Lawrence of Arabia got so many kudos, bring more jazz-fusion-funky Ventures songs.

Here are links to our eight songs. Maybe we should have called ourselves Not Ready To Play Out.  ;D  We never did have a complete rehearsal. But we had fun. Hope you all enjoy them. One more thing. I play the first four songs on my Baritone (B-B) Strat, on which everything is out of position. For some inexplicable reason, I immediately start playing out of position, even for it. I know I'm up a fret, but literally can't make myself stop until the second verse. Poor Bob; he looks over to see what I'm doing wrong, but where my fingers are don't match what he's hearing, and even when I get in position, it doesn't look right. Then it caught me out at least twice on every song I played it.  ::) Ah, well.

In order, we played

That's the last song we played. I'm doing what I should have done when I was 13 or 14, and playing just about as well. Actually much worse than the day before, which is still not very well. But I had a blast. Hope you enjoyed my public band debut.

Thanks for posting these Noel.   Not much
footage to view unless non-goers take the
plunge for the DVD SET.

Looks as tho it'll be seven all told & I'll look
to our good buddy Walt to add some photos
to each & every one before 'finalizing the
masters.'   We're still a ways off from duping!

Much more music offered out this year as no
one wanted to 'man' my other camcorder &
conduct interviews!

I've been thinking about the 2013 Fan Jam ever since I attended on Oct 12th.  This was definitely the best yet.  Everyone sounded great.  One could hear the hours of practice that went into each lead, rhythm, bass and percussion part.
Tom, Dave and other helpers did an unbelievable job organizing, emceeing and providing us with the opportunity to show our appreciation of the Ventures and their music.  Every musician was exceptional.
Bob Spalding and family travel far each year to grace us with their presence.  A big thanks to them for their support, friendliness and accessibility.
I also like to look at the displays of guitars, albums and magazines.  They provide memories of the past that are much valued.
I can't wait until next year in anticipation of more of the same.  Kudos to all!   :)
Ken

Thanks for supporting FanFest and The Ventures.
Without loyal fans like you, where would we be? ;D
