Well, well, well.  I decided to send a batch of 300 slides to have them put on a CD because I no longer have a slide projector.  I knew there were some Ventures slides in there from the 80s.  I got them back today and was stunned when I saw some of the pictures I had taken.  To have my very own picture of Mel Taylor playing the drumstick on Bob Bogle's base is as the say, priceless.  But wait, there's more.  I had the foresight to hand Don Wilson a note to please let me have their guitar picks and he did.  He gave me his and Bob Bogles picks.  Wow!

These pics here seem to be from their US 'revival'
in the early 80's!

They played that night at a nightclub called "Clubfoot."  It was a punk hangout and for some unknown reason, that genre had an interest on the Ventures.  For sure, I was the oldest person in the audience.

I was also there and did not have a camera!  I was an office manager for a market research company branch office down on South First Street at the time.  Keep the pictures coming!
The audience was the oddest group I had ever seen.  Kids with paper clips in their noses, older couples standing arm in arm and others bouncing up and down!  I was there early and was fortunate to be at the bar and met a few of the group...  but was speechless! I did get an autograph from everyone!

Jan Berry appeared in Austin later that year without Dean and Dean appeared the next year in this same club with Mike Love!
