Our Mosrite.
« on: June 16, 2013, 02:49:57 am »
I should say "my friend's Mosrite," as the Mosrite belongs to my Japanese friend.  He first saw the Ventures as a complete band when they visited Japan in 1964 and was so taken by their energy and sound.  Consequently, he prefers the raw, aggresive sound of Mosrites.

He has two, a red one and a black one.  I've had the black one on loan for maybe 12 years.

Since our shows focus on the pre-Mosrite era, we haven't used the guitar on stage.  But we may some day, just to show how Ventures music progressed.

The Mosrite neck I have a hard time adapting to after a Jazzmaster.  But it is very fast and of course needs thin strings.

Very nice - just like the one Takechi Terauchi used.

Takechi Terauchi's Mosrite (Live in Taiwan, played Beethoven's Fifth with his band "The Blue Jeans" ). Not sure it is the black Mosrite Snarnok referred to.

I had a great pleasure meeting with Terry on back stage when he performed in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 3/10 2009.

Yeah, I forgot the Bunnys.  Here was one of them who sang a nice Taiwanese song at that concert.

Is the other fellow using one of those odd shaped late 60's Yamaha solid body guitars? (the white one)

Not sure but I thought they were Parker guitars.  Terry used a white one for all songs except Beethoven 5th Sym
