Title: Our band’s (The Madeleine Cookie Company’s) bass guitars
Post by: abstamaria on June 07, 2013, 09:44:37 pm
Our ragtag, amateur band plays only pre-1964 music and, of the instrumental pieces, only early Ventures and Shadows.  We try to capture the sound of both bands (not successfully so far, I’m afraid) and so use instruments close to what our heroes used then.  That cuts down the variables and also gives our audience an authentic scene on stage.

That limits our choice to Precision Basses.  Our bass guitarist, seen below, is quite petite with small hands, but she manages on the wider PBass fretboard.  She also had to learn to play with a pick.
She has a PBass for Ventures pieces, sunburst as Nokie’s, but her's is a modern one, closer to a mid-1959+ model with a rosewood fretboard and white pickguard.  She wants to add bridge and pickup covers, as Nokie apparently kept his on.

Title: More sunburst.

Here is a better view of our bassist Anna’s sunburst Precision.  The center of the volume knob is push button that switches the pickups from parallel  (as in a Jazz Bass, I think) or series.

(I hope Anna doesn’t see this photo, taken during rehearsal.  She borrowed her daugher’s prom queen tiara to keep her hair off her face.}

I like the Tiara.  She's the "queen" of base geetar. ;D

Haha.  I'll tell her, Walt.  Perhaps she can sign up here.  We have no female members, it seems.
