Post by: Al Catraz on February 04, 2015, 05:29:33 pm
Hi Everyone. 'Thought I would add my music site to this one. Lots of work to do and lots of instrumental music to add. Lemme know if you have suggestions and how badly you hate the music!  ;) Thanks, Al

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I hate to admit, but I don't know what a midi file is ??? I just use a Digitech JamMan looper and transfer it to the pc. Yes, I have probably 300+/-  more tunes recorded in wav files. I use Mp3 files to send them. That's the extent of my capacity. ....Al

BTW, the looper is the original monophonic version. I have always preferred mono in a generalized statement...al

Midi files are computer files designed to simulate various instruments.
With the appropriate/free midi player you can turn various trax on/off so you can play along.

You can listen to various (including Ventures) midi files here:  http://www.garyrog.50megs.com/guitar_pro_mp3.html (http://www.garyrog.50megs.com/guitar_pro_mp3.html)

Thanks! OK, i am familiar with the midi's. I guess I've always considered them to be to plastic or fake sounding. Please don't think I'm  trying to be arrogant...I just play each instrument the way my mind hears it at the moment and not the way a "sterile" reproduction does. I think of midi as "Lego" music. It's great for practicing and getting the feel of a tune, etc.
I like hearing people play with their own style, cadence and feel as long as the basic genre isn't obliterated.
Please tell me your thoughts so i can learn!

I agree with you....they are "fake".
What I think is USEFUL (if it's a good midi file) is you turn off all the parts except the drums.
You play all the other parts.

Here's an example of a good one:  http://www.garyrog.50megs.com/mp3/perfidia.mp3 (http://www.garyrog.50megs.com/mp3/perfidia.mp3)

If you download a good/free player like this one:
http://wstagner.com/band/midi/ (http://wstagner.com/band/midi/)
you can turn off any tracks you like and play along.  You can also change the tempo w/o changing the pitch or change the pitch too.

Some midi fils are better than others.

Your site looks great.  The header reminds me much of the style of Crackle with its slide format.

Thanks Computer Doctor! My older son is helping with the construction and design. I wish I could claim some substance!  :D I'm involved in some work for the next few days but hopefully  'can add some content afterwards. Have a twangy day!
