Title: Ventures vocals?

Please excuse my ignorance, but...

When the Ventures started out touring etc did they ever feature any or many vocals as part of their live show?

I've only ever seen Don sing Runaway but that was a 1980's live tape...

Did they sing in their early days, or was it all instrumentals?

Don always tried to include at least one vocal stateside &
that was as you stated usually RUNAWAY.   But he was
also known to do HATS OFF TO LARRY, PRETTY WOMAN
& FEELS SO FINE on occasion.   

So I suppose, the answer would be:   not so much in The
States but in Japan a lot!   

I have Japanese 'live' LP's from the 70's where the act had
others in the band offering up vocals.   Didn't happen much
& when it did, they 'more often than not' did it to show the
audience as Don would say "Now you're gonna find out why
we're an instrumental group!"

It's just that it occurred to me that most bands included instrumentals in their acts way back when (even the Beatles played - and wrote-some guitar instrumentals early in their performing career)

It was sort of the done thing- you had to be able to play a few instro things if only for warm ups or for dancing..so I wondered about the Ventures doing a few vocals- the Shadows always included vocals on stage (and on albums and sometimes singles) although they were primarily known as both Cliff Richard's backing band and as an instro group in their own right- like the Ventures..
