FAN FEST 'regular' JAMMER BOB DOWD from Clover, South Carolina
has also finalized his song set for this, our 9th annual gathering.  It's
a joy each year 'round this time to see the gems Bob has lined up for
us.   And as usual, he's chosen THE PICKNIKS to be his backing band!

NOTED GUITARIST LES FRADKIN has now weighed in with
his 'featured set' for FAN FEST '17!

Tentatively scheduled for 7:30 PM, Les will be backed by
members of THE PICKNIKS who hail from the Cleveland
area of Ohio!

Maria- Tom here.   Thanx for gettin' back to Walt
with the 'Night Train' clarification.   We 'pretty
much' at this point, have to stick to Danny's 'ten'
song set 'cause I've been assigning the lead parts.
Still not sure who will be playing bass or rhythm to
each song but am making 'good progress' filling out
his band.

Ventures Fan Fest / 2017 Ventures Fan Fest- UPDATE!!!

We were 'excited' to learn that THE VENTURES 'summer kick-off'
gigs with THE SURFARIS on the west coast mid-June went off
'without a hitch,' generating large crowds of surf music lovers
determined to keep that 'genre' as viable today as it was in the
60's.   

As most of you know, THE VENTURES are gettin' ready & will soon
be off to Japan for what constitutes their 55th anniversary sharing
their music with that country.   The lineup will again be Leon Taylor,
Bob & Ian Spalding & Gerry McGee.   

& now that they've netted a few US gigs, the hope upon 'the guys'
return is to 'tie-in' some East Coast concert dates with our annual
fest Saturday October 7th.   Yes, that's right- we're 'holding out hope
THE US VENTURES grace us with their presence at the fest this year.

& speaking about the fest, I've decided to bring back a Bob Spalding
idea from back in 2011 when Leon Taylor also attended the all day
gathering- the FIFTEEN + minute 'grand finale' of WIPE OUT!

That'll do it for now with 'updates!'

Thanx Walt for posting this!    TRUE, it's the 'latest' we ever received a review but
'for me,' the timing couldn't be 'more perfect.'   WHY?   'Cause we're merely months
away from our 9th such gathering of 'stalwart' Ventures fans & reading this not only puts
'our regulars' in more of a 'feel good' mood but also reaches out 'wonderfully' to all our other
members who haven't yet 'experienced' the sheer enjoyment this annual twelve hour get-together
brings to those who like us are 'truly committed to continuing the legacy of 'the biggest selling & most
popular instrumental band in the history of recorded music!'

Every year 'round this time, I send out 'requests' to
our 'regular' jammers for their ideas on titles 'never'
heard at the fest.   

In addition, I decided to ask 'most' of our '016 newbies
to weigh in.   Most were not jammers but still die hard
VENTURES fans.   

Below is the feedback rec'd so far.   I'll be cuttin' off the
suggestions the first week of April.   Then jammers will
have a solid two months to 'formulate' their set lists!

Thanx fellas for sharing your thoughts with everyone 
on this year's fest.   Perhaps the 'most detailed' &
informative reviews ever received & we've been
at it eight years & running!

The feedback received thru E-mails & noted on my
'fest' facebook pages- while not reviews per se was
'extremely' gracious not only about the actual event
& how everything unfolded but accolades galore poured
in as well for all my 'unpaid' helpers who continue to- like
me show an 'unwavering desire' to further the legacy of our
musical heroes!

Recently, Walt & I made it a point to announce that we
have some 'special surprises' in store for 2017.   

In closing- another SHOUTOUT to our '016 attendies,
'specially all 'the newbies' to get crackin' on those reviews.
It's never too late in the scheme of things & 'truly' helps get
others interested in being part of 'the next time 'round!'

signature looks like LONNY GILBERT!   That's the

Thanx Walt for posting on behalf of ALAN & DEE AINE WATSON.
I recently received another superb review of our event courtesy
of DAVE & CAROL TOWERS from jolly old ENGLAND.   I
hope to have up here within a few days!   

I did take the liberty of E-mailing both reviews 'individually'
to all our '016 fest attendies in the hopes of 'enticing them'
to put their views to paper as well.   We'll see.
