Good Day Norman,
That cd and book is a great resource for learning and playing those songs. I also have it. I like the way you can slow down the tempo
on the computer and the way you can fill in the track you decide to leave out. Very similar to the Play Guitar With The  Ventures they
released back in the 60's. I believe one of them was even a top 10 album on the charts back then. The snow is gone, grass is green
and warmer weather here. Hope yours is similar. To bad we're in different parts of the country. It would be great to play guitar with
someone with similar interest. Happy tunes Norman and bye for now.

Chords & Tabs / Re: Correct Yellow Jacket tabs
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:18:39 pm »
Thanks Walt,

Yes, that is a very good video of Yellow Jacket. I have that on my favorites, also a few more. Nokie Fuji is very!! good. His version is very similar to Nokie Edwards. I like the way they go up an octive on the melody. I can do it, but I really have to work at it. Some of the videos
I have, most players stay in the first octive. Some players use the high E and B, on the 7th and 5th frets for the start of the bridge. I've seen others use the G and D strings up a few frets. And they all have their own way of playing and improvising on the bridge also. I'll keep studying the videos. I'll at least get the 4rth part close. I practiced yesterday and was almost there

Chords & Tabs / Correct Yellow Jacket tabs
« on: May 02, 2013, 03:27:39 pm »
Hello FOV's
Just wondering if anyone knows where to find the most accurate lead tab for Yellow Jacket. Ultimate Tabs and 911 Tabs have it, however
when I watch some of the you tube videos of various artist, their finger positions don't seem to match what is shown on the tabs.
Specifically the 4rth part of the song. Also, is their a computer program to watch and slow down you tube videos for windows 7 and Vista?

Thanks

Thanks tabalt11,

I just got an email from Tim today also. He gave me the same news. Yahoo!!! You're a step ahead of me on the info. I appreciate it.
I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to meet anyone in this group. Would love to play guitar with you. That would be a huge highlight
for me. Good to know there's lots of fans of The Ventures still. Great bunch of people.

Thanks, JourneyFox

You're welcome, Norman
I'm also not very high tech. Know just enough, until I get stuck. The Ventures are the main reason I wanted to learn the guitar. When
I bought and heard The Ventures On Stage record back in the 60's, that's what started it. Been playing since the 60's on and off. More
now since I'm retired. Still learning. I also have Wilson bros. guitars. They're great guitars. Hope to get a new American made custom
50th anniversary one sometime. They're not available yet, but close. Just bought the new Ventures On Stage In Japan cd from their web site.
Absolutely love it. Takes me back. To me, The Ventures were ahead of their time, even back then. I also like The Shadows. I watch a lot
of their videos on you tube, and have some of their tabs. Bob Spalding's new cd release, "Transitions" has some Shadows sound to it.
Thanks Norman for keeping in touch.

Yuup!!! can't see the streets yet because of the snow banks. Suppose to be 42 degrees Friday. Looking forward to being able to walk the
sidewalks again. Snow banks are 6 to 10 feet.  :o :o :o

You're welcome wstagner,

I enjoy talking about The Ventures and anything related. I play guitar okay, but you're very!!! good. Like the way you play
your Hitchhiker. I use a flat pick, haven't been able to use a thumb pick, but I haven't tried to learn how to finger pick enough.
I have some YouTube teaching videos, but I don't practice enough. Always find myself going back to the flat pick to practice.
I guess because I want to get right to learning Ventures songs. Always searching YouTube videos and tab sites. If you know
anyone who plays a Stratocaster and likes to have their bridge floating, have them check out Carl Verheyen's Strat. whammy
bar set up on YouTube. I've tried it, it works, but have discovered I like my bridge flush with the body better. Carl is definitely
a good player. I enjoy watching him also.

Good Morning, Norman

Back again with some interesting news. I found the web site I mentioned. It's "songsterr.com",  check it out and let me know
what you think. I think much of the music is done in "MIDI". I think it can be helpful though.

You're welcome Norman. Sometimes, I do the same thing. There's another web site with backing tracks and tabs, but I can't seem
to find it right now. I had it on my favorites, but must have deleted it. If I find it again, I'll let you know. You can play the audio, with
the player they provide and it takes you through the song, with the tabs on the screen. Pretty cool. "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"
is one of the songs. Not sure which Ventures album that song is from. Anyway, I'll keep searching and let you know when I find it.
Where are you from? I'm in Upper Mich.

Bye for now

Hi Norman,
You didn't go far enough. The Hal Lenard one is listed separately. Go to online store, then click cd's, then new releases. It's there on
the 2nd page. It's just the cd. Tabs are not included. You can find the tab along many others at Ventures chords & tabs. Good luck.
Keep me posted.

Thanks tabalt11,

I'll keep checking for updates. I'm happy with the Wilson Bros. guitars that I have now, but I sure would like one
of the American made custom one's, when they become available. One of the red one's I have now will be going
to my son next year. I did hear through the grapevine that Don Wilson is very happy with the prototype 0f the
50th. Should be a good one.

Thanks again,

Thanks Walt, for the link to the V Fan Fest 2011. Enjoyed the music. You have a nice Hitchhiker. Lots of talented musicians.
Where did that take place?
Thanks, JourneyFox

You're welcome, wstanger

What year is your Hitchhiker. Mine was just made. It's serial # is 130003. Great guitar. Waiting for the updated Vibrato, or tremolo
bridge for it. Nokie has to get the patent on it. I'm not familiar with the interim bridge, also not sure what the original one was like.
The current bridge is a good one. Hope to get adjustment instructions for it sometime soon. Do you have any adjustment or set-up
specs. for the guitar? I raised the neck pickup some, as I like an even sound from both pickups. It was set quite low, when I got the
guitar. What a nice looking Hunt guitar. Nicest one I've seen. What year is it? How do you like it?

Thanks again,
JourneyFox
