Ventures Fan Fest / 2016 FanFest.....it's a wrap!
« on: October 30, 2016, 03:13:01 am »
Tom Baltaeff- fest moderator here.   Be the first
to review this years October 1st offering.   By all
means, 'feel free' to include the Friday Sept. 30th
'meet & greet' dinner buffet & the pre-fest Sat. AM
breakfast 'in your mix.'

We 'nearly' reached 100 attendies & that figure inc.
over 50 'newbies' to the event.   It would be a 'treat'
to see a lot of new names here attached to reviews!

Can't wait to read all the 'positive' vibes & hey if you
have a suggestion or two to better it 'going forward,'
we will take note & discuss the feasibility!

Perhaps Walt, everyone's in shock that 'everything' unfolded without one snag.
I thank you for 'this' buddy.   Worked harder than ever after your 'initial' nudge.

NOTE:    our PRE-FEST TEASER on YOUTUBE on the morning of FEST '016 had
410 hits.    Today (Oct. 18th) we're approaching 1500.   So word is 'truly' out
there on our annual event.

Now, I'll get crackin' on my end to sort thru the video footage (interviews, etc.)
that videographer friend, Jim McGowan collected throughout the day.   I, too have
a 'special treat' planned regarding the 'final video clips for this year's DVD SET.

Extending my thanx to all the jammers who participated in the fest, 'regular & new,'
along with other 'first time' attendies & our numerous 'bigtime' special guests.   We
(you & I) have already discussed some 'new ideas' going forward, ideas that'll help
further 'smooth out' the twelve hour festivities.

I'm looking forward to 'once again' working with YOU, BERNIE, DENNIS, PAUL, JIM &
RODGER to make our 'next fest offering' rival or exceed 2016.

Again thanx pal for your 'continued' dedication to my annual event honoring the 'legacy'
of 'the biggest selling & most popular' instrumental band in the history of recorded music!

Tour Dates / Re: Ventures 2016 Japan Tour
« on: August 02, 2016, 11:17:01 am »
'Finally' some 'new' selections!   I always thought
that Don, 'specially in recent years was 'reluctant'
to raise the bar & 'pretty much' had a 'status quo'
attitude!

General Discussion / Re: Ventures vocals?
« on: July 28, 2016, 01:26:21 pm »
Don always tried to include at least one vocal stateside &
that was as you stated usually RUNAWAY.   But he was
also known to do HATS OFF TO LARRY, PRETTY WOMAN
& FEELS SO FINE on occasion.

So I suppose, the answer would be:   not so much in The
States but in Japan a lot!

I have Japanese 'live' LP's from the 70's where the act had
others in the band offering up vocals.   Didn't happen much
& when it did, they 'more often than not' did it to show the
audience as Don would say "Now you're gonna find out why
we're an instrumental group!"

Ventures Fan Fest / Re: '016 FAN FEST- Tentative Set Lists!
« on: June 10, 2016, 11:06:22 am »
Thanx Walt- I believe we now have all the groupings for FAN FEST '016!

We'll see on fest day how the schedule moves along for all concerned.
Hopefully there are instances where time is 'freed up' here & there,
'everyone' ends up performing their 'entire sets' & we still have
the 90 minutes set aside for what should be our 'most
informative Q&A ever at the fest.

Lined up for our expanded Q&A session-

Bob & Ian Spalding, Michael Bogle, Fiona Taylor & David Towers

Keep that thought buddy- it's a 'good one'
& one that should be run by FIONA TAYLOR
at the fest in October.   Last I heard (recently)
she's planning on making 'her first' fest!

If you do, I may hold some back for myself.
I didn't care for the taste the first time 'round
but will give them 'another shot!'

All very informative.   I'll be seeing STEVE CRUZ in a couple
Saturdays down at Dennis Cote's so I'll share your thoughts
with him 'bout the 'flash drive route.'

And I still need to touch base with Kanad Ghose.   Me thinks
he also has a couple different approaches!

That's a thought Steve- I'll have to discuss your suggestion with Walt.   & I've gotta
touch base with Kanad Ghose as well on the post fest approach with all our footage!
He said he also had a few ideas!
