Thanx for the Miller's 'trip update.'   I'll expect you
to take me up on the T-shirt which'll cost you a
mere $20.

This makes it (3) posts in a row Rich with a WINK!

How 'bout joining us at the 'fan fest' come October
& if you say NO, would you at least 'support' us w/
a 'commemorative' tee shirt purchase or perhaps
last year's DVD SET?

A little birdie, let's add the phrase 'pain in the ass'
to that- tells me that you're 'now' officially settled
in down south & have absolutely no excuses for not
comin.'   So your next step is to get a list of excuses
off to 'that person' right away!   LOL!

Outside of playing a 'mean' lead guitar,
that's what he does 'best.'

'Exact' locale' on the various views would
truly tell a story but 'sadly' not possible,
at least in this instance.   Again 'kudos' on
what you did accomplish!

I second Walt's reply Rich- nice job.

Being retired like you, I often get 'nudged'
the same way by the main moderator.   He
really keeps me on my toes.

In fact, I just posted (day in advance) this
year's 'song suggestion' list for all the 'fest
jammers.'   Check it out.   Plenty of 'rather
interesting' non-Ventures material.

Ventures Fan Fest / '016 FEST SONG SUGGESTIONS?
« on: February 18, 2016, 10:36:30 am »
Decided to reach out to the forum members for some
SONG SUGGESTIONS for our 'gathered' jammers
come SATURDAY OCTOBER 1ST, 2016!

In the past several years, what's made the annual fest
'better than ever' each go-round is the fact these 'stalwart'
VENTURES FANS have themselves become 'cover bands,' in
many instances lately covering songs 'our heroes' never did
in their long career.   One year we successfully 'pulled off' a
VENTURES PLAY THE BEACH BOYS twelve song set.

Some of the suggestions from our jammers this year include:

REBEL WALK & CANNONBALL by Duane Eddy
F.B.I. by The Shadows
FREIGHT TRAIN by Rusty Draper
THAT'LL BE THE DAY by Buddy Holly
THIS DIAMOND RING by Gary Lewis & the Playboys
BYE BYE LOVE by The Everly Brothers

just to name a few!

I plan to submit the 'official' 2016 list to all jammers by mid-March
so get your thoughts in ASAP!

Thank you- fest host Tom B.

Nice hearing from you Rich.   Hope all is well
with 'you guys' down there in Florida.

That is a super show.   Would die to see THE
VENTURES appear.

Joe Walsh said some nice things 'bout our heroes
in the past & evidentally is filled with lots of 'astute'
observations!

Ventures Fan Fest / Re: FanFest 2016--Blu-ray disk?

Thanx for doing the research Walt.   We
probably have jammers who are still using
regular DVD players so at this point it isn't
a 'viable' option anyway!

Goin' with DL's this year proved to be a wise
decision on your part.   We eliminated 2 xtra
single layer discs in the process & the VIDEO
QUALITY & SOUND has improved each year!

In conjunction with this, this year I've decided to 'shave' a month off
my usual Spring greeting to all jammers with my 'song suggestion' list
So come March 1st, I'll be makin' contact with a batch of titles Walt & I
have been compiling since late October.   In fact I understand jammer
JOHN STAPLETON has already weighed in with a handful of 'never before
played' selections!

It's really a 'nice feeling' to see this 'early' energy & enthusiasm being
displayed!

Thanx so much for posting the interview.

For all our members who are also involved with
FACEBOOK, there have been tons of photos posted
there since Thursday on 'The Ventures' page courtesy
of Don's wife Dori.   In fact, I caught a few hand held 'full
videos' of Don Wilson jammin' it up on HOSE OF THE RISING
SUN & APACHE with 'special friends,' including Jeff Baxter.

Check it out ASAP.   We may get more additions today, Sun. the 27th
as this is the last day of the show.   Let's hope so!

Yeah this gets a thumbs up 'cause The Ventures will be
represented at the WILSON BROTHERS GUITAR booth.
The 'contingent' will include both Don Wilson & his son
Tim, along with the Ventures manager Fiona Taylor &
I'm told, select musicians from The Ventures over the
years.   Joe Barile & John Durrill were asked to attend.
Sadly, current Ventures Bob & Ian Spalding, along with
Leon Taylor will not be on hand this time 'round.   Bob
did say that on Thursday evening, Don was planning to
play a mini-set with some friends.

Wanted to get this head's up out there for all our members
planning to attend.   Walt & I hope everyone in 'The Ventures
Circle' has a super time!

Ventures Fan Fest / 2016 VENTURES INTERNATIONAL FEST TEASER!
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:21:02 am »
After last years fest in October, at the suggestion of Walt Stagner, I
declared the date for our '016 gathering 'right away' on our facebook
page, then immediately set up the '016 VERSION of the same.   Prior
years, this never happened 'til the new year was upon us.

I also joined three other 'music related' facebook pages & set up 'the fest'
as an event there as well.   To this point early in the year, I already have
40+ individuals 'maybe or interested' in attending this October.

With all this in mind & keepin' with the theme of lookin' for ways to increase
attendance, today, at the suggestion of good friend & fellow jammer Forrest
Kulwin, I put together, then uploaded to my YOUTUBE channel an '016 FEST
TEASER than runs approximately 18 minutes.

It is available at- tab11balt11

I will also look to turn the video into a DVD should anyone want a copy of this
GEM!   For a nominal shipping & handling fee, I'd be more than happy to send
one along.   Details- tabalt11@yahoo.com

ENJOY!   It was a lot of fun workin' on this mini-project!   & if you happen to be
one of our 'regular jammers,' please post a review of past fests in the comments
section provided!

FEBRUARY 29th UPDATE:   I have since tidied up the original teaser, dropped one
song in favor of a 'crowd pleaser,' & changed the rhetoric in spots.   It's uploaded
to the same channel as '016 FEST TEASER ALTERNATE.   Don't forget to comment!

Ventures Fan Fest / Re: Fanfest 2015 Sample Vids
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:03:12 am »
The so-called 'fan host host' has been 'clamoring'
behind the scenes for 'something in this vein' a
long time.   & there are 'others ideas' that
have been put forth recently that
merit 'shared' discussion.

THANX guys for wanting to make our event 'even
more special' than it already is!

Walt- I believe in my list of facebook maybe's,
this 'strong' lead guitarist who hails from Canada
is 'currently' in the 20th position out of about 30+
other interested 'hopefuls!'

As usual, good job on the music- Michel.

Welcome aboard BOULDER BOB.   My name is Tom Baltaeff,
(tabalt11) co-moderator to the forum.   You should be hearin'
as well from Walt shortly.

To answer your question, I think your 'album thread' idea
is a good one & I'm sure Walt would agree.   Together we
just need to figure out 'what category' it fits best under so
be patient & one of us will get back to you!

Thanx again for your interest in the forum!
