How To Get that Ventures sound... / Re: Gear for "Walk Don't Run."

Jeff weighed back in again today with further info found in Del's book.  The jazzmaster Bob used in WDR he
traded to Fender for a new jazzmaster at the time & it was that Jazzmaster that indeed ended up with his
friend.

Interviews & Praise / FASCINATING ARTICLE LINKS!
« on: February 06, 2012, 10:39:08 am »
THE GUYS have been featured many times over the years in various music magazines:  GUITAR PLAYER, VINTAGE GUITAR & GOLDMINE.   So far however, I've struck out in my search on the internet.  In the meantime I did locate a few gems & hope the links below provide reading enjoyment.

Walt & I think it best to create a separate category for any & all future articles related not only to THE GROUP but individual members as well.   For instance a feature or two have popped up recently on Nokie.

It's a great interview.  I had seen it once before!   We should check to see if we
can post some other gems from Vintage- along with those from GUITAR PLAYER!

Walt & Andy-
Good friend & member Jeff Green just acknowledged while on his way out the door for the weekend that the guitars loaned to the ROCK
HALL were not the ones used on the original WDR.  He verified Bob used a jazzmaster which he unfortunately had given to a friend.

Don did in fact use a stratocaster on WDR but donated a beat up jazzmaster for the exhibit.  Maybe Jeff can clarify a bit more down the road.  Del's book does cover alot of the other details.

Thanks Arnold for getting this post up here as well.   Sometimes with all the
forums & sites we tend to lose track of just where we've deposited the info!

Fellas- Not that I can find it to post it but when I visited the rock hall in Cleveland in '08 the year The Ventures were inducted, their TRIBUTE DISPLAY
not only included both those guitars but the colored jackets they wore at the time promoting the single.   Countless times before that when they
played just as a duo, you'd catch those same jackets.   We're now up to 80 members so I'll assume someone has a photo of the ROCK HALL
items being displayed back then.  In the meantime, I'll check around here on the homefront!

Ventures Fan Fest / Re: The AdVentures said YES!
« on: February 01, 2012, 08:02:02 pm »
Well a bit of retraction here.  After Walt & I discussed Byron's CD which BY THE WAY sounds SUPER, it was decided that the absolute best way to
promote Byron's band & not just for the upcoming jam in October is to ask BYRON himself when time permits to set up a FACEBOOK page for The
AdVentures.   Another option would be MY SPACE but FACEBOOK would be easier.  Once that's up & running, we can not only link that page to this
forum but follow thru with audio clips from the actual CD or any other DEMO CD the group decides to produce.   Last year after driving out to record
THE PICKNIKS in concert in June, I was able to share their sound in much the same way on my 2011 VENTURES FAN JAM page.   I suspect before too
long together Byron, myself & Walt will come thru for everyone here with flyin' colors on the ORIGINAL PROMISE!

The Guitars of The Ventures / Re: Hallmark Guitar?
« on: February 01, 2012, 05:37:36 pm »
Fellas- Bob specifically mentioned in an E-mail to me late last year that not only would he be set
up to accept PAY PAL at the next jam but that he had ANOTHER SURPRISE up his sleeve & would
share it with me 'round the time this year's ID CARD goes up on his site.  And I'll make sure that
happens a lot sooner than last year.  The order for the ID's will go to the printers right after the
deposit gets placed on the hall- which is mid-March.

Backing Trax, Sound Files and Video Clips / Re: FBI by Patrick Lozac'h
« on: January 28, 2012, 02:50:08 pm »
Patrick- Couldn't even begin to guess at this point.  Last year Bob & Ian Spalding & Leon played a six song set culminating with an 11 minute WIPEOUT
that turned out to be a JAMMERS FREE FOR ALL.  There will be 3 featured bands this year playing one hour each along with a slew (upwards of 50) of
others jammers paired up into several bands throughout the afternoon.  Song selections are forwarded to our jam coordinator in June & then musicians
are paired according to related titles.  They then are given a SOLID THREE MONTHS to practice on their own in most cases tho E-mail correspondence back
& forth is encouraged.  Hope this answers your main question.  You have plenty of time to re-consider.
