Anyone here own and play one of the Hallmark Mosrite clone guitars?

They'll be introducing matching bases soon.  Bob Shade brought the prototypes to the 2011 FanFest.  Hopefully he will have them available for sale @ this year's FanFest in October.
 :)

Gary Essex purchased a pearl white 60's custom model from Bob onthespot @ FanFest 2011 and played it during his jamming performance.  Was very kewl.

And don't forget to bring lots of money as they are only sold on a cash basis.

Fellas- Bob specifically mentioned in an E-mail to me late last year that not only would he be set
up to accept PAY PAL at the next jam but that he had ANOTHER SURPRISE up his sleeve & would
share it with me 'round the time this year's ID CARD goes up on his site.  And I'll make sure that
happens a lot sooner than last year.  The order for the ID's will go to the printers right after the
deposit gets placed on the hall- which is mid-March.

I own a fire sparkle 60 Custom and I'm very satisfied with it. I find it more versatile than the 1960s Mosrites I've played.  :)

Do you have any pix of it or of you playing it?  Bob Shade attended the 2011 FanFest and I think he's slated to be at 2012 Fest also.  You can upload pix here in this thread or in the Gallery section as long they're smaller than 500kb.

Sorry, I don't right now. I'll post as soon as I read the manual on my camera and learn how to do it, something I've been meaning to do for months.  ;D

I have a Surf Pearl Custom 60. Great guitar. I had some problems with rattling bridge rollers when I first got it, but after a trip to the tech for a setup, it's doing fine. He had to immobilize the rollers, but I've had no rattles since, and it stays in tune fine--it recently spent five days in a trailer traveling across the country, and it came out of the case in tune. The pickups sound a lot like Mosrite pickups, a little bit darker than, say, a P-90, and I wound up putting in 500K pots, which opened it up some, and when I ordered it, I asked Bob Shade to install a leather washer under the tremolo arm so it wouldn't loosen up with use, and it's been fine. The only gripe I have is that the case is really heavy. Real nice case, but if I put wheels and a motor on it, I could drive it to the gig! And live in it if I couldn't find a motel... ;D

Bob Shade will be at the FanFest in Philly on 10/13.  Maybe you could attend and ask Bob to give your "baby" the once over? ;)

Gee, 2012?  Really?

I have a sort of an odd bird.  It's a black 59 Custom which has the bridge of a 60 Custom and black hardware on the twang bar and knobs.  It had been modified a bit too much, and I restored it to the standard pickguard, removed a 2nd volume control and restored the wiring as per the diagram kindly provided to me by Bob Shade.  I bought a new case and a new pickguard from him.  I really love it now.

Sounds nice, plays incredibly, looks wicked... I'm a happy camper.

My Hallmark is the lead guitar on the first cut, and ALL of the guitars on the second.

I think the Hallmarks are a good value and look a lot like the real thing.
It's too bad Bob Shade coon't have gotten Nokie on board.  Wooda bin a good deal for both partys.

Yes, those Hallmark "Ventures" Models are beautiful!

Gary Essex bought a Pearl White one at the 2011 Fan Fest.  I had my eye on it, but he pulled the trigger
before I made a definite decision. However, later that day I was called upon to accompany Gary when he
stepped up to play lead on "Apache", and "Journey To The Stars".
Though I can't comment on the playability of the guitar, I can say that I felt the instrument sounded terrific!

Bob Shade still had another one there in Sunburst...OK, so I thought I might make that one mine...
Oops! Too Late! Beat to punch by Byron Tietjen!

I'll save up a few $$$, maybe next time!
