No, the bt is copied from the original as close as I could, so it shouldn't sound like Hank's version.

An attempt at getting close to the original which was not the Ventures but another up and coming group  ;D Don't be fooled by the trick ending!

1964 Burns, Fender Jazz Bass, BFD2 Drums, Taylor acoustic and GPO.

Never played rhythm, played lead in a Shadows band when I was 14 and 15' when all the old stuff was new ;D but moved on to the Beatles etc, then to heavy metal, cabaret, rock, and now back to the Shads.

No old recordings I'm afraid, well, not that I know of!

Thanks Andy & Marty.

As I think I mentioned before, there's only so much you can do with a Strat to get that sound....they have a couple of 60's Jazzmasters for sale in Cranes, Cardiff. :)...and a Burns Bison!

I have seen this clip before but it's nice to have another look and it IS the original recording, ok, the sound quality is not good and they are miming but what a piece of history ;)

I've re-recorded the lead with a different guitar, 12's and Flatwounds, also 57/62 FCShop pickups, it's still not a Jazzmaster and Fender amp but this is as far as I can go with a Strat and Vox :)

The bt has also been tweeked.

The links have been added to replace the old ones.

Hi Patrick,

Excellent stuff, well played, I think your guitar though could come up a couple of db's.

Those drum fills would be a nightmare to add manualy!

Hi All,

When I was just a bit younger     and into the Shadows stuff quite heavily, the Ventures did'nt get a look in, they in fact were looked at as almost "Second Class" NOT SO ::) After re-discovering their music, especially when analizing it, one realises how good they really were.

The early recording quality was not brilliant and i've tried to get close to the way they sounded then.

I've based my recording on the original 45 but a re-mastered mix.  Roger from C.H's forum was kind enough to let me hear his original vinyl 45 which I was going to use but....as Roger has played it to death     the quality was not good enough and I think he will agree with me on that  :)
He also sent me the picture of his single.

So! Here's my bash at the Ventures Walk Don't Run, warts and all ;D

63 Strat, AC30H2, Fender Jazz Bass and BFD2 Drums.

I hope that the big Ventures fans will not be disappointed :o

Phil

EDIT
I have to admit that I usualy do these so called "copies" with Shadows tunes, this was done as a request and almost tongue in cheek, I have since realised that Ventures fans have the same passion as Shadows fans, so.......I have done a re-record with the lead, I don't own a Jazzmaster so on the re-record i'm using a Strat with 57/62 pickups and flatwounds, the guitar has also been doctored to make it sound similar to a Jazzmaster.
This is in the process of being mixed, the sound is a lot closser than the above links, i'll post when it's done.
